Stoplights watch all the smoke rise from the ground
Streets don't glow like they used to in this town
and it's going faster than eyes can see
It's all going faster than words we speak

In cardboard houses the cutout kids still dream
We're in too deep with this dead-Locke nature scene
and the past is reaching up from under my feet
and the wind is whipping, sidewalk's cracking over the street.

We've seen too much for these brain-worms to ever let you go.
You've seen too much, we've all seen enough to know we'll never know.

Growing up you sat in crowds
you had your head tucked in the sand
Now you've been 'round the block enough
to know there's no one there to hold your hand
If you want out, you'd better go fast
If you're not quick enough they just might
bust your ass
it's bad to die first
